AUSTIN'S 1ST DAY OF PRESCHOOL

Austin was the least bit thrilled to go to preschool. He is NOT a morning person! I let him pick out his outfit and he chose a Sunday outfit which is weird because he's so particular on wearing only school clothes to school only and church clothes to church only. This year their are a lot of the neighborhood kids in his class. When I picked him up I took my camera hoping to get a better picture...

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

So we have this AMAZING teacher at our school whose name is Miss Karma. EVERYONE wants Miss Karma. I've heard of people postponing moving just so their child can have Miss Karma. Miss Karma teaches a Pre-K class that Addie was in 2 years ago and Addie was smitten. All through Kindergarten thats all we would hear is"When do I get Miss Karma?" So at the end of last year I submitted my request form, told her kindergarten teacher, and told the secretaries of my special request. I can just see the secretaries roll their eyes at me like "Get in line lady! The whole flipp'in school wants her!! So then for 3 months I have a nervous break down, worried about not getting Miss Karma. I asked Addie if she would be okay if she didn't get Miss Karma and she says "NOOOO! I HAVE to have Miss Karma!!!!)
I think the whole town of Stansbury heard me screaming, shrieking with joy as I see Addie's name on Miss Karma's list. 60 request forms were turned in for this teacher!!!! And about 8 of Addie's little primary friends are in her class so it will be a very fun year!
And dang it the picture turned out blurry!! When we walk in Miss Karma goes "Theirs my little Addie!
So check out Addie's outfit she decided to wear on the first day of school: It's old! She wore it last year! I only bought her 2 new outfits for school this year because she does this a lot. Grrrr...even that cute dress I bought specifically for the 1st day and she PROMISED me she would wear it.
Aubree's my big 4th grader this year! CRAZY! I remember 4th grade! This year I am nervous since I heard 4th grade is hard and with her crazy soccer schedule....EWE! She was really nervous about not knowing anyone in her class cuz when I checked the list I only recognized 2 names but when we walked in her class 3 little girls squealed when Aubree walked into the room and they weren't the one's that I knew.
So I'm excited and nervous for this year!

LATEST PROJECT

I have had this art project in my head for several weeks and I finally just got it done. The girls took an art class over the summer and came home with some really neat artwork that just needed to be displayed so I bought 11x14 canvas boards from Wal-Mart and spray painted them in fun colors. A lot of their artwork wouldn't cover the whole board and I didn't want to glue ribbon around the edges like I have done in the past. Spray paint was a lot easier. I bought some fun push pins and tacked them onto the boards. That way I can easily change them throughout the year. I hung them up in the hallway leading into the playroom. I've had this project done for a couple of weeks now, I just needed to wait until the playroom was clean before I could take the picture!!

Also pictured is I finally bought door knobs for the girls closet....after about 9 months! I bought them at Anthropologie (on sale!!)

And finally the quilts!!! Modena made matching quilts for the girls bed and matching ones for their dolls! TOO CUTE! Thanks Modena!!!

SOCCER TOURNAMENT

Aubree had her soccer tournament this week which meant lots of games and lots of DRIVING!!!! The first game was windy and raining the whole time and Aubree played for maybe 5 minutes. The next 2 games her couch started her and she played pretty well. It was a little intimidating at first because she's playing up a level so the opposing team girls are HUGE! But I think she's getting the hang of things and is really liking it. The season starts next weekend!

BYU SCRIMMAGE (And the photoshoot I have been dying to do!)

Every once in awhile their comes a time when the photoshoot just goes right (not perfect cuz one of the modes I had it set to the pictures turned out really grainy. Thats what the black and white button is for!! Ahhhh...someday a DSLR...)
Anyhoo..
I took 175 pictures in 3 hours. The setting was just too perfect: My 4 year old wearing his BYU uniform on the BYU football field!!!
For some reason he thought he was going to play in the game. As we were walking to the stadium and he saw all of the people he said "All these people here to see me?!" How cute is that!!
Well the cuteness ended really fast when he realized he wasn't playing in the actual game so I had to take him for a walk. When the game was over we were able to go on the field and then he was in HEAVEN!! We even got some pictures with some of the players! I had one of them sign his jersey and ball (I had to steal someone's pen...hey I gave it back!) I guess the guy was the one who caught the winning pass last year to win Oklahoma. McKay something or other. Anyways. We were on the field for a whole hour letting Austin play. It was so funny. His facial expressions were so funny because he was so serious.

PANTRY REMAKE

I was browsing the internet right before I was going to start dinner and checked out a blog my friend Melanie had told me about called HOUSE OF SMITH'S I came across her Pantry Remake post and OHMYGOSH! After briefly reading it I instantly ran to my pantry and started tearing it apart. (keep in mind it was around 5pm and I was supposed to be started dinner!) But when inspiration hits me I have to move quickly before it goes away.
So back to the demolishing of my pantry:
I thought it was pretty organized until I read that blog and then I saw how cluttered it really was! The top shelf I had stored things I used within a year
WHAT!!
Get rid of it!
So everything I didn't use in a month's time went downstairs into the food storage pantry. I used to have a whole entire shelf dedicated to canned goods
NOT ANYMORE!
GONE!
I used to be on this rampage of buying large cereal containers for cereal and chips. I have about 14 of them and after reading that blog it looks VERY cluttered. I can't afford to replace them all at once, but I went to WAL-MART and bought some cute glass canisters. I also went to DI to look for things that needed a little make over and that I could use for storage. (I'm trying to venture out of the storage section of the store and look for things that aren't necessarily for storage but it would look cute holding something.)
Here's my thing with DI:
I HATE IT! Gross used crap. It smells. Its someone else's gross crap.
I was hyperventilating the first 10 minutes giving myself a pep talk in my head.
Try and think outside of the box. Picture it with spray paint.
I spent $20 (I know, expensive for shopping at DI, but once I started picturing things spray painted I saw more bargains.)
So 2 days later and several trips to the downstairs storage room this is what I came up with: (And we ate out that night too!)

YARD

BATMAN & SUPERMAN

Here's Austin with his best bud Carson. Austin is really into Superman and Batman so I bought these shirts for him at the GAP. When Carson comes over he makes Carson where one of his shirts and shows him how to hold his arm and fly like Superman.
One time David was jumping on the tramp with Austin and they saw an airplane. Austin squinted his eyes really hard at the plane (thinking he had Superman's superpower lazer eyes to burn the plane) and told David all frustrated:"It's not working Dad!!!"
He really takes Playing Pretend to the extreme!!
